One day my Hands...

Painting: Vladimir Kush

One day my hands
Shall grasp the skirt of
Autumn
Embarrassed, it will produce
a necklace of flowers
so that I wear the Lavender dress
to dance with Spring
to pour water over The flowers
that won’t leave my hands alone.

To be the king of Ants

Painting:Vladimir Kush

Rain betrays?
Was it the rain?
The beautiful transparent pearl
Taste like orange
Smell like fresh mud
Baked in the sky
I thought the rain was the source,
The cloud in my head
Cursing the colloidal droplets
Floating in my head!
The refusal of cell to act
So, I can’t think!
I had to hate the rain and what it did!
was it not protecting me
the flat-hood of a running truck?
Imagine hating the source of cleansing!
The transparent soul
tear drops from the sky
Mother of life
God’s way of pouring joy tears to wash it all
all of it
Imagine hating the rain
But!
The connection I’ve built with the trees
Contrast the notion
So I dance once more
With the source of joy
Getting wet, being alive
screaming the loudest of scream
With no sound
Pounding my feet in puddles of joy
Water splashing
mud envy
dance it all
wash it all
sing, sing with nature
pure as can be
the trees cover my body
I’m laying on the ground
Being one with dirt, transparent!
Pulsing the ground
Gaining strength
my limbs taste the rain
The need to do a somersault
clings to my veins
Standing upside down
Shouts:"take it all in"
I can climb one more time
The tallest or
the shortest of trees
defy gravity once more
I’ll be the king of ants!
Yes, I can sleep through it all
I can be rain!

The melody in my mind

Paintings: Vlaidmir Kush

 When I see you sleeping
The strings in my heart start playing
My headache is of no consequence
I stop and listen to the wonder of love
Is it the music of your beautiful face that warms me?
I feel complete
I reach God
And heavens

I smell the rose with the windows closed
Your hand moves softly under your chin
Now, a Monarch Butterfly flies past our window
It’s even cloudy but the room is bright!
I forget the diamond ring that was stolen the night before
The whole room is shining
I swim in a wave of laughter
You wink
I say I love you

 You don’t say it back
You never do
I have not taught you that kind of love
Ours is just skin deep
It reaches within the heart
It’s in the form of a touch or a scream
It’s constant
Always there

The room is warm, diamonds are shining
Butterfly is in the room
The most beautiful sight
The melody is still playing
I don’t want to wake up
The music stops
I must go
I’m late for work.

For Sandy for Climate Change!

Painting by: Vladimir Kush

Sitting on a shadow
Walking over a cloud
The Sun asked:
“Do you believe in Climate Change”?
I believed in climate change
“Do you believe in Santa Claus?”
I didn’t believe in Santa Claus
Nor that the profits had a one way line
Communication to God!
I didn’t believe in anything
Exclusionary but the Sun!
Thunderstorm IS real
The storm, the drought,fire
Ice caps melting, people dying from hunger
Population Growth is real,I believed.
Above all,
Limitless greed of humans and compassion!
The cry over a loaf of bread waited a small child,
Died from hunger!
Yes! I believed !
Climate Change is real
And that we are as powerless as the cable TV wants us to be
As weak as our attachment to anything
That disconnects us from compassion, from the rain, from Sandy
I see the Shadow that follows us
I see the cloud
And yes the rain in the horizon
But, the Sun too singing till eternity
Yes
I believe in Climate Change!
the Sun too.

Another poem on Climate Change but more abstract follows:
Climate Change and the boy!

I tipped over a rock just listening to him
the shadow was following me now
the cloud was gone
Painting:Vladimir Kush
up there
Blue,Blue!
the sun
I needed nothing
I was going nowhere
This was it!
An eternal connection to the Sea
the boy was dancing
drops of lemon juice on his cheeks
"But is Climate Change a Hoax?"
I know we will find a way,
The Sun is still shining.

Wings under the green trees

Paintings: Vladimir Kush

Did you ever jump?
The little scared sparrow alone in a jar
No where to follow
Nothing to see
Too far to fly
Nothing to care for
Naked as can be
Sun on all the wings
Going far as can
Do you see me fly?

 Did you ever jump?
Do you even think of me now with no wings
Singing lullaby in the sun
Do you remember me hiding my wings?
Cooking pancakes with the mud
Do you remember me hiding my wings?
Dreaming, dreaming of the sun
Did you know that I had wings?
When you scared me of the jump
Did you ever think I would fly?
Far, far away from sight

But did You ever jump?
Did you Ever reach?
The far away land of nothing and else
In the corner of black and empty
Where your heart dreamt of flying

I cared for keeping you so I won’t fly!
But did you ever jump?
Did you reach the land of black with no sun?
Did you get to the purple sky you traded for blue?
Did you find a heart after you broke mine?
Did you sing a song after you cut my tongue?
Did you find happiness under the rainbow you had painted under the blankets of my tears?
Did you ever reach that faraway land away from me?
Did you ever jump after you left the ice in my bed?
After the closed window, hot air killed me slowly
Did you ever jump?
Where you there when I flew?
Did you see how far I could jump?
Could you believe how fast I could fly away from you?
After you ate my heart
Did you see that I finally flew?
Did you see my footprints in the wet sand?
Close to something warm that I never wanted but got
The price of freedom for what I didn’t care for
Nothing close to blue
Nothing as purple as your dream

But did you ever jump?
Did you see the scared little sparrow that was afraid of flying?
Did you see her hidden wings, wings you found?

You made her brave Again!
She took her shoes and left her heart
the one you ate
On the stick to color the birds
While you were jumping
But did you go far
Did you ever jump?
Did you ever find?
Did you ever reach?
The purple sky

I found the sky I had to go to
The sky you dreamt about
The one I didn’t want but got
After you ate my heart
Did you see me fly with no heart?
With no eyes but with found wings
The one you found when you tried to jump
Did you go far?
Did you ever jump?
Did you reach high?
Did you find high?
The empty black
the purple sky you were searching for
The one you longed to exchange for the blue I had
For the sun I kept cherished under the green tree that was made for two
Where I had hid my wings
The ones you found
The ones that you found
The wings I had hid to sleep under the sun
The ones I didn’t need no more
The wings I used to find the purple sky
The one you wanted to find
Far away from you
The place I flew to

After you ate my heart
Did you ever jump?
Did you ever find?
There was no blue sky
Purple was Not blue
It was still as cold as you
As the ice you left under the blanket
Before I find my wings
Before you eat my heart

I left a pillow before I went
I left a blanket too
Just in-case I come back
Just in-case you stop searching for the black empty hollow
the one you named rainbow
Just in case you hadn’t swallowed the heart
I gave you for safe keeping
But did you ever jump?
Did you ever find your way?
But,what was your way?
Where you lost?
Where you scared too?
Did you have wings?
The ones I tried to hide for you
The ones you kept finding and kept finding mine too
Did it help you jump?
Did you ever jump?
Did you see me fly?
Over the blue sky
After you ate my heart

I never came back
As scared as I could be
Little scared sparrow and me
We went to the meadow under a wet cold grass
As cold as the ice you keep under my blanket
The night you tried to jump
Did you ever jump?
Did you see me fly?
