The last piece (my hand ached part 2)

A bird in the hand
Painting: Phill Singer
There is rain under the shadows

I’ve found light

I followed the sun to catch
the ship that carried the last rain
how I could have been
the beneficiary of your wrath
My fault
to lay in the drought of a smile
hoping for a drop of kindness to fall
The drop so few
The ocean so deep
It pains me to know
this was the last straw
From now till eternity
your wrath shall not harm me
as I’ve grown
The girl you had buried under the sand
can live
Somehow survived the drought
There is rain under the shadows
I’ve found light
Escaped the lonely cage you built around my soul
You see my soul had wings
I flew, I saw the sun
It pains me to know I am writing to you for the last time
Knowing far too well
Your unreachable nature
Shall never read through
the blood I shed
writing the last piece
while I followed the sun to catch
the ship that carried the last rain
to take me away
where I can dust off the memories
days of drought and thorns
knowing far too well
You will be the one
never to see the footprints
never to know what you traded forever
The ocean of love I had for you

  1. Parissa,
that's such a great imagery! The "ocean of love" gone. So sad! I really liked it!
Keep up with the good work!
